Parkour can be used to overcome obstacles in almost any environment. That is what makes it idiosyncratic; Anyone can do it, regardless of wealth or location. We all may train the same discipline but it is important to know that your location truly affects your style. For example: A Traceur in the woods will naturally develop a different skill set than a Traceur in the city. Today I will be analyzing how a Traceur’s environment shapes his style. I will also divulge a few tips on how to get the most out of your location as well as ways to train skills that may be difficult to practice in certain environments (example: cat grabs in a mossy forest).
The Problem
We all know how the public perceives our discipline. They label us as “Adrenaline Junkies”, “Daredevils”, “Hooligans”, etc. The problem is, we allow the media to do all the talking and that is why we are left with this negative representation of Parkour. How can you accurately talk about something you have never experienced? I propose that us Traceurs stand up for our discipline. We should take pride in what we do and ensure that the public receives an accurate and hopefully positive impression of Parkour. Intro

Team Training
Team training is the method of training we see most. This method consists of going out and training with a few of your buddies or your team. It is very enjoyable and it will allow you to learn very much very quickly. However, there are a few drawbacks to this style. You will sometimes be talked into dangerous situations that you are not physically or mentally capable of. In addition to this you will not get the full experience that Parkour or Freerunning can bring. Often times you will not feel the fear in the same way that you would if you were to be training alone, the fear is usually lessened when training in a group. This may sound like a good thing but fear is an important factor in building character and becoming a responsible traceur or traceuse. The Method
