I have been figuring things out in my life in order to best align myself for success but now I am back and ready for action! Today I would like to speak to you about the three attitudes which can be brought forth when completing any action. These three attitudes I am speaking of go as follows: Enthusiasm, Enjoyment, And finally Acceptance. A routine must be crafted with only the utmost productive and valuable activities. Many of us search for motivation day in and day out. We stumble upon the spark of motivation and it gets us going, we continue to feed off of it until it dies out and then we are left with nothing; the motivation has faded and so yet again we search for the spark. If you are like most people you work harder when you are motivated, there is nothing wrong with this until you take a look at the bigger picture; Momentum will be built through your hard work. However, as soon as you lose motivation you will stop working hard, and your momentum will come grinding to a halt. This is why fluctuating motivation is not okay, it will stall your momentum and overall progress towards your dreams or goals. Today I would like to show you why I believe motivation is overrated.
Forgive me for slipping up with the blog last week, I got caught up in my video editing work and was in a serious time crunch. Please allow this extra valuable article to be my apology to you. I wanted to write about something that was applicable to everybody so I wrote about the universal topic of achieving things. We all want to achieve one thing or another so how do we do it? You’re about to find out.
A while back I wrote a post contemplating the creation of a parkour country, this country would consist of like minded traceurs from all around the world meeting up to live in a blissful utopia, unfortunately this type of reality is not probable. Instead we must cope with cynical townspeople who are constantly calling the police and belittling our wonderful roof missions. I recently was tasked with writing an informational essay on any subject in the world that interests me, obviously I picked the one nearest to me: Parkour. The topic of the essay is rooftop training and it’s justification. This essay was meant to be unbiased so I try not to choose sides, although if given the choice I would definitely support the legalization of rooftop training! Anyhow, here it is:
Are you a dreamchaser like me? Do you spend everyday thinking about that one thing that you are chasing with all your energy? If so you will surely take an interest in this post which will be covering the ever controversial topic of dreams and what it takes to achieve them.
I would like to take a moment to say thank you to the wonderful Parkour community that I have the privilege of being part of; I am grateful beyond measure for everything you have done for me. Parkour has affected me in profound ways that I would have never thought possible. Just a few years back I was sitting around watching my life pass me by, but now I am on the fast track to success. For these reasons I have compiled a list of the most notable things Parkour has done for me as a person.
This is the tale of a boy named Joey Rodriguez. his adventure begins in the humble town Grandville, Michigan. At the age of five he has made it thus far into his life without a hitch. Then one day his mother announced that it was time to move. Imagine how a boy of his age felt after receiving such heavy news, his life would soon be flipped onto it’s head and shaken about. Joey was plucked up from the safety of the known and dropped into the realm of mystery. It was a sink or swim situation but this boy had the fire in his heart to stay above the surface. He soon found himself encompassed by a plethora of unknown faces with equally unknown names. Worse yet was school due to him being relatively new in the area.
Each Traceur is an individual, there is no exception to this inherent Parkour rule; But why? Many of us would like to believe that we as Traceurs have the ability to shape our style through sheer Parkour training, this is partly true but for the most part our past experiences are what result in our current style. This information may be discouraging to some of you who have a less than Ideal past, I for example come from a gaming background; Very few skills acquired through gaming can be used as a Traceur; But it is important for you to remember that the same is true moving forwards: the activities you choose today will determine your style tomorrow.
Today we will be delving deep into the world of Parkour jobs. Some will make you laugh and others will make you seriously consider what lies ahead for you; At any rate you’ll pick up a few things on your read through. And now without further ado I present to you, the Parkour Job guide.

There once was a boy named Dameon, this is his story. It was an average day in the 8th grade for Dameon, eating a grotesque lunch with the wrong crowd of people. He was a shy kid with a very low self esteem; Dameon had made it through the prior grade with only one friend, his best friend since childhood: Joey. Somehow he had become acquaintances with the pothead skater crowd, he never partook in either of these activities due to the fact that he killed most of his free time playing games. A side effect of being a tech addict was an excess load of fat tissue, for this he was bullied sufficiently. Dameon was not satisfied with life and wanted something more. He only had one thing going for him: He was a dreamer. “When health is absent, wisdom cannot reveal itself, art cannot manifest, strength cannot fight, wealth becomes useless, and intelligence cannot be applied.”
-Herophilus Today I will teach you how to get the most out of the body you have been blessed with. As the aforementioned quote states, you must have a healthy body if you expect to reap the full benefits of the seed you sow through your labors. In the realm of Parkour it is especially important to monitor your health, due to the extremely high demands of the discipline. I have already covered the conditioning aspect of health in a previous article, for that reason I will be focusing only on the dietary dimension this time around. Imagine a Parkour Country, every citizen is a Traceur and peace resides. Where the Traceur to Traceutte ratio is even and everyone jams regularly. The architecture is ideal and we all support one another’s training. Sounds wonderful doesn't it? Could a place like this exist? Probably not; But that doesn't stop us from dreaming about it!
Parkour can be used to overcome obstacles in almost any environment. That is what makes it idiosyncratic; Anyone can do it, regardless of wealth or location. We all may train the same discipline but it is important to know that your location truly affects your style. For example: A Traceur in the woods will naturally develop a different skill set than a Traceur in the city. Today I will be analyzing how a Traceur’s environment shapes his style. I will also divulge a few tips on how to get the most out of your location as well as ways to train skills that may be difficult to practice in certain environments (example: cat grabs in a mossy forest).
The Problem
We all know how the public perceives our discipline. They label us as “Adrenaline Junkies”, “Daredevils”, “Hooligans”, etc. The problem is, we allow the media to do all the talking and that is why we are left with this negative representation of Parkour. How can you accurately talk about something you have never experienced? I propose that us Traceurs stand up for our discipline. We should take pride in what we do and ensure that the public receives an accurate and hopefully positive impression of Parkour. Intro
The future is coming, there’s no doubt about that; The real question is: What will happen to our beloved Parkour when it gets here? I am going to expose what I believe to be the most probable future. Of course the future is only speculation and the past is gone forever. We must live in this moment, for it is all we have. Our everyday experiences are what shape the coming times. We must make use of our 86,400 seconds we are blessed with calling our own each and every day. Before you read on I must inform you that the future is not concrete, we still have the power to change it, don’t lose hope! |
