Headway PArkour Blog
The holidays have arrived and you can almost feel the joy in the air; I am going to grant you the only gift I can: A blog post. The following is a list of gifts for the Traceurs in your life as well as a short analysis on the meaning of this magical season. Presents for the Traceur in your life
Shoes- Great for any Traceur! Workout Equipment- Unnecessary but useful. Camera Equipment- the ideal gift for Traceurs who love filming the art they create through movement. Clothing- The style of the apparel depends on the person but the message you'll get is always the same: "These are new clothes so don’t mess them up with your “Parkour” thing" Gym Memberships- Many Traceurs love training in gymnastic facilities, others enjoy the weight room, memberships to either are a superb gift. Medical Kit- They’ll thank you later. Recovery Food- Not really something you would give as a gift but still important for their training. Vault Box- They are especially useful in the winter. Precision Trainer- Any gift that improves a Traceurs jump distance will be well received. Video Editing Software- A necessity for Traceurs trying to make a name for themselves. Shoe Repair Kit- Useful for keeping those old shoes in one piece. Parkour Book- The quintessential gift for somebody who is just now getting into Parkour. Parkour Movie- Movies featuring Parkour are loved by Traceurs far and wide. It’s a great feeling when you say ”I can do that!” whilst watching a chase. Athletic Earbuds- Sturdy earbuds are a great choice for a Traceur due to the fact that music is the key to flow. Callus Shaver-Important for safe bar work. Epsom Salt Rub- A recovery solution used to recover muscles and soothe joints after a hard workout. That was a pretty simple list that hopefully granted you a few novel ideas, but now I would like to explore a topic a bit different; Let’s think about the true meaning of the holiday season, it is not all about personal gain so please take a second to look beyond yourself and cast your focus unto your loved ones, for they are the truly deserving ones. It is a sad truth that many Traceurs (myself included) are monomaniacal when it comes to Parkour; This means that we are obsessed and consumed by it, which isn’t always a bad thing. But since we are in the season of giving it can be quite troublesome. After all what is the most valuable thing we have? Time; A monomaniacal Traceur would like to spend all of that time on his precious training instead of with his loved ones. Hopefully you now see why monomaniacal behavior can be detrimental. I would like to request a favor from you. Take some time out of your busy schedule and offer to help five people. Simply walk up and ask if you could be of any assistance, you’ll be surprised by the look on their face. Don’t worry about how long helping them will take, Just do it. It is a common misconception that there is only so much success to go around and once it’s gone, it’s gone forever; But that's just not true. There is more than enough success to go around so be generous with your time. Besides, by helping others with their dreams you are inherently setting yourself up to have the favor returned at a later date. I leave you with this one simple idea that sums up the entire article: Now is the time for being generous and giving away not just gifts but also time and happiness, focus on others and be grateful for whatever you have; Never neglect those who are dear to you, for all you know they could be gone tomorrow. But anyways that’s enough for today, Happy holidays everyone, train safe and never stop improving! Credit to Flip Yeah Parkour for Image.
